Mediator Recommends Terms of Collective Agreement
Our mediator, Rick Wilson, has issued recommendations for an agreement between you and the employer.
We will be holding a ratification vote for this tentative agreement on Tuesday, March 12.
We are organizing information meetings for all members on Wednesday, March 6.This will be an important opportunity to ask questions and discuss the mediator’s recommended agreement. Your bargaining team will be sharing more details about these meetings and your ratification vote as they develop.
Improvements in this recommended agreement
Here are some of the ways this recommended agreement would make things better for you:
• An entirely new Article about Contracting Out, which prevents the employer from contracting out bargaining unit positions without first consulting with the Union.
• Health & Wellness Spending Account: Your account would start at $1,000. Over the course of the agreement it would increase to $1,112.50 on April 1, 2019, and $1,150 on January 1, 2020.
• Premiums for your Employee and Family Assistance Program will now be paid 100% by the employer.
• A wage reopener in the third year of the agreement, which we would begin negotiating May 1, 2019 or on another mutually agreed on date. If there is no new salary adjustment agreed to by June 30, 2019, we would be able to apply for interest arbitration, which would be held no later than October 31, 2019.
Your bargaining committee is dedicated to keeping you informed throughout the entire negotiations process. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of your committee or AUPE resource staff with any questions, comments or concerns you may have.
