Progress continued at the bargaining table, but it was at a slower pace than previous negotiations. That is expected, as our bargaining committee and the employer have begun discussions on articles that both parties have proposed to change.
As we noted in a previous update, we are working towards updating the language in several articles to ensure the collective agreement is reflective of modern workplace expectations and culture. Your committee will continue to work toward that goal, despite receiving some pushback from the employer during our most recent meetings on Nov. 27 and 28.
Despite the slow progress, we were able to sign off on an additional six articles. They are: Union Membership and Dues Check-off (Article 7); Employer/Employee/Union Relations (Article 8); Seniority (Article 44, re-numbered to Article 12); Probationary Period (Article 13); Human Resource File (Article 20); Layoff and Recall (Article 22).
Our next bargaining dates are scheduled for Dec. 13 and 14. It is not yet clear when the employer is expected to officially present its monetary proposal, however, it has been made clear the bargaining table that the employer expects to table zero wage increases.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact a member of your committee with any questions or concerns you may have.NAIT BARGAINING TEAM MEMBERS:
