Mediation continued on Dec. 6, but unfortunately there was no change in the employer’s tactics, despite the best efforts of both the mediator and your bargaining committee to try to push the process forward.
The employer’s delay strategies started when bargaining began, and is the reason why the parties only held four full collective bargaining meetings before moving into mediation.
Mediation hasn’t produced any major results, unfortunately. Out of a total of 29 existing articles and two new articles proposed for the collective agreement by your bargaining committee, we have reached agreement with the employer on just four.
We are frustrated that the employer continues to intentionally delay and prevent meaningful progress at the bargaining table, and we know you are too. We will continue to work towards a successful resolution at the table.
Our next mediation date is scheduled for March 13, 2018. If you have questions or concerns in the meantime, please contact a member of your bargaining committee or an AUPE staff member listed below.
